SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber

United States, 1940-1944 (103MB download, please be patient!)

Aircraft, similarly to artillery, have a big supporting role to play, even apart from the direct attack itself. Bombers like the SBD can hit convoys, trains, and ships carrying oil, ammunition, and fuel that can grind a tank division to a halt. Heavy strategic bombers can hit factories to slow down production at the source, or rail yards to prevent tanks from making it to the front. At the front aircraft can perform recon duties, and can attack any tank in the open, and while it may not destroy a tank, it will scare it and force the entire tank formation to move only at night to stay undetected, slowing the formation down, which limits their operational mobility.
