The M47 Dragon is the predecessor to the Javelin, and it isn’t very good. It is a SACLOS missile, a guidance system which requires the operator to guide the missile in by pointing the sight at the target and holding it there until impact, a dangerous endeavor considering you just had a giant plume of smoke appear at your position. The maneuvering thrusters (no fins, just thrusters) tend to bounce the missile from side to side, causing the missile to have a low hit rate. However, it is important as an evolutionary step to where we are today, and a lesson on how not to design missiles.
