M72 Light Anti-Tank/Anti-Armor Weapon (LAW)

United States 1963-Present – Vietnam War

The M72 Law is the US’s analog to the RPG-7. It is cheap and everywhere. It too uses the same HEAT system as in the RPG-7. However, there is one big difference, that being that the M72 LAW is disposable. This means that once you fire the weapon, you drop it where you stand. This has advantages and disadvantages: For one, you only need to make the weapon strong enough to fire once, past that no longer matters. Furthermore, if you do fire it, you don’t need to carry it back. This makes the weapon overall lighter and simpler compared to the RPG-7. However, the launcher has to be made every time, and every shot you carry is another launcher. You can’t switch ammo types in the field either Unlike the RPG-7, its rocket only propels it to the muzzle, any further is on pure inertia. It was replaced by the AT-4.
